Gemstone Jewelry Care Guide

About the Stones We Use

At Gems by Hoda, we carefully select natural semi-precious stones that are unique in color, texture, and energy. Because natural materials, no two stones are exactly alike — and they require thoughtful care to preserve their beauty.

Stone Sensitivity

Unlike diamonds or synthetic stones, many natural gemstones are porous, soft, or heat-sensitive. Please avoid the following to keep your stones in excellent condition:

  • Prolonged Water Exposure: May weaken settings or affect porous stones like turquoise or lapis.
  • Direct Sunlight: Some stones can fade with continuous sun exposure, such as amethyst or rose quartz.
  • Perfumes & Chemicals: Oils, sprays, and cleaning agents can damage surfaces or alter colors.
  • Physical Impact: Dropping or knocking pieces may chip softer stones like opal or moonstone.
